10 Tips for Cleaning Your Bath Area

Tip 1. Never use anything abrasive on any parts of your bath area.

Tip 2. Coat the inside of your shower doors with Turtle Wax, Rain X or Lemon Oil, this will allow the water to bead right off the doors without leaving spots.

Tip 3. Always have a hand held shower installed, after each shower or bath, simply use it to rinse the walls, shower door or shower curtain and bathtub or shower base, this will wash away all soap film and body oils.

Tip 4. Hair dye can permanently stain your tub and walls, however, if you do accidentally stain your bathtub, make a paste from baking soda and water and gently scrub the area with a soft cloth or sponge, if this doesn’t work contact us for other solutions.  We suggest that you use your laundry sink to dye your hair.

Tip 5. Never scrub any caulking in your bath area, gently wipe repeatedly with your contractor’s suggested cleanser.

Tip 6. After a shower or a bath, the little droplets of water that remain on your tub and walls contain body oils and soap film, once the droplets evaporate, the soap film and body oils stick to the tub and walls making them very hard to remove, this is when you’ll feel like scrubbing with something abrasive. To eliminate this scrubbing, take the towel that you’ve dried yourself off with and wipe off those droplets right after your bath or shower, this takes about 1 minute and will eliminate any future hard work and anguish.

Tip 7. We suggest that a bath mat not be used, most quality bathtubs now have built in non-slip surfaces, but if you absolutely must use a bath mat, be sure to remove it after each bath or shower and clean it before using it again.

Tip 8. Never place shampoo bottles, conditioner bottles, liquid soap containers, soap bars, shaving foam cans or any other bath area products or cleansers directly on your bathtub or shower floor, a lot of these products contain acids that will stain or eat away at the surface of your bathtub.

Tip 9. Recommended bath area cleaners are: Fantastic, Windex, Green Works, Spic & Span Spray, 409 Spray, Tilex Spray, Lime Away Spray, Pine Sol, Fabuloso, Simple Green, Diluted Ammonia and all liquid dish washing detergents.

Tip 10. Not recommended bath area cleaners are: Any abrasive or gritty cleaners, Scotch Brite Pads, Magic Eraser, Soft Scrub, Comet Soft Cleanser, Paint Thinner, WD-40, MEK, Acetone, Comet Powder (and “Scratch Free”) and Vim Cream.
